Honda XR 500 C&J
Ron Grieve, old editor Cycle World magazine, long-time desert racer, and friend, built this bike for a Cycle World project bike around 1980 - 1981. (Good article in Cycle World.)
Ron Holst raced the bike very successfully in District 32 desert races. After many years of sitting and gathering dust, Ron donated it to The Midsonian. The Midsonian crew immediately made it a dual-sport bike: It was ridden for many years in many dual-sports in the So Cal area.
Ron Grieve has since passed on. We lost a great rider and a great friend. I think Ron would approve of us displaying the bike.
Thank you Ron Holst, and Godspeed Ron Grieve . . .
